Construction of the Vantaa Light Rail Begins on Hakunilantie and Tilustie
Construction will begin during April at three locations. Preparatory works will start in stages on Hakunilantie, Tilustie and on the new street connection, Rivieranraitio. The works will cause temporary changes to traffic arrangements.
Information on the Preparatory Works and Their Start
In the first phase, we will carry out preparatory works. Actual construction is scheduled to begin in May, provided that the City of Vantaa’s Urban Space Committee approves the alliance’s agreements for the second implementation phase in April.
Construction works will begin on Hakunilantie between Ruunikkokuja and Hevoshaantie, as well as in the Vaaralanmäki area. The first work phases include changes to traffic arrangements and the delineation of work sites. The works will continue between Ruunikkokuja and Hevoshaantie with the removal of surface structures, utility relocations and municipal infrastructure construction. At Vaaralanmäki, rock excavation will begin to widen the street area.
On Tilustie and on the new Rivieranraitio street connection, three surcharge embankments will be constructed, each approximately 50 metres long and over one metre high. These embankments are built as a ground‑improvement measure. They are temporary structures and will be removed once street construction begins and the required soil conditions have been achieved.
Impact of the Works in the Area
On Hakunilantie, the construction works will cause temporary changes to traffic arrangements. Some work phases will generate occasional noise. We will provide more detailed information about noisy work phases, routes and traffic arrangements well in advance of the start of the works.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
