A new Vantaa light rail worksite begins on Jokiniemenkatu
The Vantaa light rail worksite is expanding on Jokiniemenkatu. Construction of the light rail will begin on the strip of land between the Keravanjoki River and Jokiniemenkatu. All access routes in the area will remain available, but the roadway will be narrowed.

According to current plans, the worksite on Jokiniemenkatu will expand during the week starting 14 September. Construction will narrow the roadway, but pedestrian, cycling and vehicle access will be maintained. All properties in the area will remain accessible throughout the construction period.
A new worksite area will be introduced on Jokiniemenkatu in front of the Eastern Uusimaa Police Department and the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK). Construction of the worksite arrangements will begin during the week starting 14 September and is expected to take a few weeks. Traffic controllers will be present while the central median is removed and the arrangements are built to ensure safety. During this period, lighting in some parts of the area may be reduced.
During construction, one traffic lane in each direction will remain in use, but turning lanes will be removed due to the narrowed roadway. The pedestrian and cycling route will remain in its current location along the street. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Construction of the light rail in the area is expected to continue until 2028–2029. The tracks will be located between the Keravanjoki River and Jokiniemenkatu. According to current plans, the Jokiniemi stop will be located near the intersection with Jokiniemenkuja, which can also be seen in the image.
