The Finnish Championship sprints in cross-country skiing will take place at Hakunila Sports Park in Vantaa on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, will be the patron of the competition, which is held in the traditional style.

Vantaan Hiihtoseura will also organize the Suomen Cup traditional style relays on Sunday, February 9. The competition weekend will be televised on Yle and Viaplay.

"This is the top skiing event in the capital region. We have around 200 enthusiastic volunteers who will make this competition to happen. We are delighted that Alexander Stubb is the patron of our competition," says Jussi Eronen, chairman of Vantaan Hiihtoseura.^

Vantaa has decades of tradition in organizing major skiing competitions.

"Vantaan Hiihtoseura is an important partner for the city. It is great that we can once again bring the Suomen Cup and the Finnish Championship sprints to Vantaa. Vantaa can offer the most snow-guaranteed conditions in Finland, thanks to our new snow-making container. We are proud that even here in the south, we can guarantee excellent conditions for this competition," says sports director Veli-Matti Kallislahti.

Finnish skiers already performed well in the traditional World Cup sprint in Ruka in November, so winning the Hakunila Finnish Championship race requires a high international level.

"We hope to see a large audience on site. The Hakunila sprint track has been redesigned to be more dynamic, and you can watch top-class skiing up close. The competition atmosphere will be enhanced by a competition square, which will now be brought to the stadium next to the ski track," says the competition director, Antti Pekkala, executive director of Vantaan Hiihtoseura.
