Applying for the TEPPO programme

Applying for the TEPPO programme. Application procedure for the school year 2022–2023 takes place in spring 2022. The application period is 7–20 March 2022. The students of the school’s 7th and 8th grades can apply. Students apply for the TEPPO programme through the electronic Wilma system. Any willing 8th and 9th grade student can apply as a student in the working-life oriented TEPPO programme at their own school.

A maximum of 18 or 24 students are accepted annually in the TEPPO programme, depending on the school’s total number of students. The joint application period is always held in the spring, and all applicants and their guardians are interviewed. The most important aspect is that it is believed that the applicant will, from one reason or another, benefit from the working life-oriented way to study. The young person must be motivated by and committed to working life-oriented studies. Students can apply if they believe that they can benefit from familiarising themselves with different working environments and early working life contacts with regards to choosing their career or integration, or if they need support or extra challenge in their studies. Another important factor is that the student’s family should also be committed to supporting the working life-oriented studies, as they demand close cooperation between the student’s home and their school.

Instructions for applying electronically via Wilma

The guardian will fill in the application form in Wilma together with the student, using the guardian’s Wilma ID. The form can be edited over the course of the entire application period. If the young person has a valid pedagogic document, this is shown automatically in the Wilma application. If there is no pedagogic document, the school’s expert (such as the student’s class teacher or guidance counsellor) will write a short statement of whether or not they are in favour of electing the student in flexible working life-oriented studies. This statement can be viewed by the guardian in Wilma after a date set by the statement’s author.

After the application period, all applicants and their guardians are interviewed at the school, always by the school’s two different experts. A trial period with a workplace can also be used when electing students, if the school considers this necessary. The decisions on student elections will be made and reported to the students’ guardians in May 2022. The decisions are based on the criteria for electing the students, the information entered into the application forms and the interviews with the students and the guardians.

After the school year has started, there is a continuous application procedure for the flexible working life-oriented studies. If there are free student places in the TEPPO programme, those can be filled over the course of the school year. Find out more from the TEPPO guidance counsellor or principal of your school.
