Nominate candidates for the 2024 Culture Smith Award by November 1st

The end of the year is a time for recognition. The City of Vantaa annually awards the Culture Smith recognition to an individual or organization that, through their work, actions, and attitude, has promoted diversity, intercultural understanding, and interaction in Vantaa. This year marks the 18th time the award will be given. The award includes a forged rose sculpture and €1000.

Anyone can nominate a candidate for the Culture Smith or the Culture Smith Act.

The recipient will be selected by a jury, based on the proposals and the justifications provided. The jury includes representatives from the Multicultural Affairs Advisory Board, the city, the Hakunila International Organization, and the previous year’s Culture Smith. In 2023, the award was presented to Vaisala in recognition of their exceptional efforts in multicultural recruitment and their values, which align closely with those of the City of Vantaa.

In its 50th anniversary year, Vantaa especially wants to recognize a person or organization that has brought together Vantaa residents from different backgrounds. The award is not given to City of Vantaa employees or the city's own projects.

The Culture Smith Award will be presented on December 6th at the Multicultural Independence Day Celebration at the Martinus Cultural Center.
