Pay subsidy
The pay subsidy is a subsidy paid to the employer to cover pay costs. The subsidy can be applied for by employers that hire an unemployed jobseeker from Vantaa.
The aim of the pay subsidy is to promote unemployed jobseekers’ employment in the open labour market by improving their professional competences. Employers can also apply for the pay subsidy for apprenticeship training. In addition, work supported by the pay subsidy promotes access to employment and participation in working life for people with reduced working capacity and for people aged 60 and over who have been unemployed for a long time.

Employment subsidy for employing people aged 55 and over
The aim of the employment subsidy is to promote the employment of people aged 55 and over by improving their skills or entrepreneurial capacity. The subsidy is paid to the employer.
To be eligible for the subsidy, the jobseeker must be at least 55 years old and have been unemployed for at least 24 months in the 28 months preceding the granting of the subsidy.
The amount of the employment subsidy is 70% of the pay costs. The subsidy may be granted for a maximum period of 10 months.
Vantaa employment supplement
The Vantaa employment supplement is paid to employers that hire an unemployed jobseeker from Vantaa. The employer may be based outside Vantaa. To be eligible for the Vantaa employment supplement, the employer must have already been granted pay subsidy or employment subsidy for people aged 55 and over for the same employment relationship.
The Vantaa employment supplement may be granted to companies, associations, foundations and registered religious communities. The Vantaa employment supplement is granted for pay costs, i.e. indirect wage costs and holiday bonus. The maximum amount of the Vantaa employment supplement is €500/month for companies and €300/month for associations.
Supporting employees’ working capacity
Sometimes, an employee’s working capacity or working conditions may change unexpectedly. The City of Vantaa offers support to employers in making arrangements regarding working conditions.
Employees’ working capacity can be supported with the subsidy for arranging working conditions
With the subsidy for arranging working conditions, the City of Vantaa wants to promote the employment and working life of people with reduced working capacity. As an employer, you have an important role to play in this.
You may be eligible for the subsidy for arranging working conditions if the disability or illness of the person to be hired or a person already in employment requires:
- new tools or furniture,
- alteration work at the workplace, or
- assistance from another employee to carry out work tasks.
Youth summer job voucher
The City of Vantaa supports all young Vantaa residents aged 15–18 with a summer job voucher. The City reimburses €300 to employers that hire a young person eligible for a summer job voucher.
