Using the summer-job voucher
There are some issues you should keep in mind as regards the summer-job voucher. We recommend that both the young person and the employer familiarize themselves with the instructions below.
-
The young person's minimum wage shall be at minimum €500 / 60 hours of work (€8.33 / hour), unless the collective labor agreement of the field in question dictates a higher salary. Holiday compensation may not be included in the minimum gross income. If the young person works more, the salary must be higher, too.
-
The recommendation is that the minimum number of working hours amount to 18 hours / week. The summer-job period can also be divided into several parts during the period of validity of the summer-job voucher, if so agreed between the employee and the employer.
-
In addition to salary, the employer is also responsible for the employers' contributions and holiday compensation. NOTE! The age of the young person affects the employers' contributions. Here you can calculate the indirect wage costs Palkka.fi - palkkalaskuri (“Wage calculator”).
-
You can utilize your summer-job voucher in your summer job from May 1 to August 31, 2025; in other words, you must have your summer job during this period.
-
If a young person works 14 days or 35 hours in a calendar month, they accrue annual leave in accordance with the Annual Holidays Act. The annual leave must be paid at the termination of employment, and holiday compensation may not be included in the base salary. In addition, the employer must pay the ordinary employers’ contributions. Furthermore, potential evening and holiday allowances must be paid to the young person according to the TES (“collective labor agreement”) in question.
-
In case of sickness absence, the employer must pay the young person sick pay according to the collective labor agreement of the field. In case there is no collective labor agreement, the sick pay must be paid in accordance with the Employment Contracts Act. The young person may not be asked to compensate for their sick leave after getting well.
