Vantaa will become a modern and attractive light rail city
For many Vantaa residents, the light rail will mean smoother mobility in everyday life in the future. But that’s not all – an entire light rail city will be built around the light rail.
The tracks will tie the current districts together, making Vantaa more unified. Thanks to the light rail, it will be easier to travel from near and far to different parts of Vantaa by public transport. Investments are also being made in good pedestrian and cycle routes.
When services, workplaces and leisure areas are a light rail trip away, the inequality between regions will be reduced. The accessibility of local nature will also improve.
In addition, new workplace areas and residential areas will be built along the route. These areas will become home to diverse housing as well as services needed by residents, such as schools, daycare centers, cultural premises and sports facilities. The areas will be green, pleasant and safe.
Roughly 60,000 new residents and up to 30,000 new jobs are expected along the route by 2050.
