Postal voting from abroad
In the presidential election, voters living abroad can order postal voting documents from 28.10.2023 onwards. Postal voting begins on the 21st of December 2023.
Both permanent residents and voters temporarily resident abroad during the election period can vote in national elections by post from abroad. Permanent residents are not entitled to vote in regional or local elections.
You can order postal voting documents abroad from the Ministry of Justice. Please read the instructions included with the postal voting documents carefully before filling in the voting form. Please note that two witness signatures are required on the form. The witnesses cannot be your immediate family. Return the documents to the central electoral commission of your municipality as instructed.
Postal voting documents can be ordered about three months before the elections. Voting is possible as soon as the numbers of the candidates are published. The postal vote must be received by the electoral authority no later than 19:00 on Friday 26 January 2024 to be taken into account for the presidential election. Any second-round postal vote must be received by Friday 9 February 2024 before 19:00.
