Metropolitan area collected generators for Ukraine
Warm thanks to all donors of the Generators of Hope collection! Vantaa, Espoo, and Helsinki's joint collection resulted in almost 120 aggregates, generators, heating devices, and other devices to be sent to Ukraine.
This translates into around 36 europallets of generators and other heating devices.
“We attracted an impressive number of donors who consisted of businesses, communities, private people, and groups of friends,” rejoices Elina Värtö, international affairs manager at the City of Vantaa.
The campaign was kick-started by the European Parliament and the Eurocities network. People all over Europe and also elsewhere in Finland have participated in the campaign.
In the metropolitan area, the devices were stored in Vantaa’s warehouses. Students at Vantaa Vocational College Varia packed the donated devices.
A message from a donor is heard in the video.
Delivery of the devices was arranged through the EU’s rescue services mechanism and in cooperation with the National Emergency Supply Agency. This way, the devices will end up in the right targets in Ukraine.
