The “Vantaa–Kerava-sote: Asukkaan asialla” project produced videos in 2022 to support clients of the Wellbeing Services County of Vantaa and Kerava in difficult life situations. The videos can be found on the YouTube channel of the Wellbeing Services County of Vantaa and Kerava (Vantaan ja Keravan hyvinvointialue).

“It is important that residents have access to information and support that does not require a client relationship or contact with anyone,” says Project Manager Henna Salonen.

“Everyone can access the videos according to their interests and needs when it suits them best.”

For stressful family situations

Short animations have been made about services for children, young people and families, covering situations where the parents are considering separation, someone submits a child welfare notification or the family experiences the threat of domestic violence, for instance.

“It is good to have information available in the form of videos, especially on topics that may sometimes be difficult to talk about,” Henna Salonen says.

Information and support are also provided for situations where the family has a child with neuropsychiatric traits or violent behaviour. Both themes are discussed through a multi-part video series, where practical tips are shared by professionals from various fields, such as doctors, occupational therapists, social workers and family therapists.

“People have requested more information on these topics and, based on the feedback, they have found the videos necessary and useful.”

Some of the videos about neuropsychiatric traits (“Tietoa nepsykirjosta” series) have optional subtitles in English, Swedish, Estonian or Russian.

For young people and about violence

Videos have also been made for young people. Young people talk to their peers in the #EtOleYksin video, which has also been translated into Swedish and English. The purpose of the video is to encourage young people to seek help for mental health and substance abuse problems. This video for young people can be used to spark discussions during school lessons, for example.

In addition, there is a separate YouTube channel focusing solely on the theme of violence, Väkivallaton VAKE. The channel provides videos on, for example, violence intervention training and experts by experience, featuring people who have experienced violence, behaved violently or faced the phenomenon of violence in their work.
