Vantaa’s extensive natural features invite you for a closer look. Explore local trails or take part in a guided nature hike.
The large nature areas along Vantaa’s western and eastern borders offer excellent opportunities for spending time outdoors. For example, the Petikko recreational area is a fine destination for camping and other outdoor activities. The lake Kuusijärvi area connects directly to the many footpaths of Sipoonkorpi national park.
Additionally, there are guided community nature hikes organized annually in the capital area.

Everyone’s rights
In Finland everyone is free to enjoy nature, regardless of who owns the land. Everyone’s rights apply to everyone regardless of age, gender, or nationality. However, the landowner or any animals are not to be disturbed and no harm must be done to the environment.
Local nature videos
You don't always have to travel into some rugged terrain to have an impressive nature experience. Vantaa is full of exciting and fascinating natural features, some of which may be found just a stone's throw away from where you are.

Guided nature hikes
Capital area guided nature hikes are open to everyone. Schedules are announced in the capital area hike calendar. The calendar for the year 2024 can be found in libraries around the capital area in the latter half of March.
Vantaa nature hikes 2024
Vantaa will once more be organizing nature hike with different themes from spring to fall of 2024. These start with a bird watching trip on 7.4. and end in a bird watching trip on 29.9. In between these, there are a number of other events from hikes to mushroom tours.
