Construction of the light rail in Tikkurila Center and Jokiniemi
Follow the progress of the light rail construction between Kielotie, Tikkurila Station and Jokiniemenkatu. In the future, the light rail will travel along Kielotie to Tikkurila Station and continue towards Jokiniemenkatu through the new underground light rail station.

The construction sites are located in Tikkurila center and at Tikkurila Station, and on the eastern side of the railway in Jokiniemi.

February–March 2026
- Bus stops for the Tikkurila bus terminal will be located along Ratatie starting from 9 February. Tunnel construction will begin in the area of the current terminal.
- On the Jokiniemi side next to Tikkurila station, we will carry out earthworks and excavation support works until the end of summer.
- Earthworks and excavation support works will also be carried out on Lummekuja.
- Rock excavation began in Kirjastopuisto at the end of February. Drilling and blasting will cause occasional noise. Excavation is planned to continue until the end of April.
- Modifications to the technical facilities in Tikkuparkki will start in March and continue until the end of the year. Parking in Tikkuparkki will remain fully available.
April–July 2026
- In April, the section of Kielotie between Neilikkatie and Unikkotie will become a work area, and the street will be closed to vehicle traffic.
- During spring, we will build a new access route to Tikkuparkki through Kirjastopuisto. The access route will change, but parking in the hall will remain available throughout construction.
- In May–June, we will build a temporary bridge on Ratatie crossing the excavation at Ratakuja. During bridge construction, Ratatie will also be closed to buses.
- The access route to Rataparkki will change in March–April. After that, entry to the parking hall will be from Ratatie. At the same time, Ratakuja will be taken into use for construction operations. Parking in Rataparkki will remain available throughout the light rail construction process.
August–December 2026
- According to preliminary estimates, work at the Unikkotie–Kielotie intersection will begin in August. The junction area will be built in several phases, and minor changes will occur in the Unikkotie intersection arrangements as work progresses.
- From summer onwards, minor lane arrangements will be made on Jokiniemenkatu on both sides of the Keravanjoki bridge. Municipal engineering utilities will be relocated in the area.
- During autumn, rock excavation will begin on the Jokiniemi side of Tikkurila station.
