Vantaa light rail construction site in Tikkurila
The Vantaa light rail will run smoothly in a tunnel beneath Tikkurila station, the public transport terminal, Ratatie and Kirjastopuisto. The stop located in the tunnel beneath Tikkurila station is expected to be the busiest on the entire light rail line in terms of passenger numbers. Preparatory works in Tikkurila already began in May 2025.

Information will be updated as construction progresses. The preliminary schedule may change, for example due to weather conditions. We will provide more detailed information on upcoming work phases closer to their start. The page also includes links to news items where you can read more about current developments in the area.
Kielotie
- Municipal engineering relocations, excavation support works and ground improvement works ongoing
- First track installations scheduled for late 2026
- The light rail worksite will expand south of Neilikkatie during the winter
- According to current plans, Kielotie will reopen to vehicle traffic in summer 2028
Lummekuja and Kirjastopuisto
- Excavation, ground improvement and rock excavation works ongoing
- Intermittent rock excavation works will continue in Kirjastopuisto until next winter
- Tunnel concrete works will begin in autumn 2026
Ratakuja, Ratatie and Dixi
- Required modification and support works at Dixi
- Excavation works and utility relocations
- Rock excavation works in spring 2027
- Tunnel concrete works will begin in spring 2027
Main Line Railway and Väritehtaankatu Area
- Rock excavation works ongoing beneath the main railway line
- Night-time rock excavation works beneath tracks 5–6 will be completed during September
- Rock excavation works beneath tracks 1–4 will be carried out during daytime hours later this year
- Tunnel concrete works will begin in autumn 2026
Jokiniemenkatu and the Keravanjoki Area
- Municipal engineering relocations and excavation works ongoing around the Keravanjoki area
- During the week starting 14 September, the worksite will expand on Jokiniemenkatu in front of the police station and the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (the roadway will narrow, but access routes will remain available)
