Applying for operating grants for health and welfare promotion and local civic activity in October
This year, applying for grants takes place already in October. Grants are awarded for associations’ basic activities.
You can apply for the annually granted operating grants for health and welfare promotion as well as for local civic activity for the year 2025 from October 1 to October 31, 2024.
Organizations, communities, or action groups whose operations promote Vantaa residents' health and welfare may be entitled to the health and welfare promotion grants. The grants shall primarily support diminishing welfare gaps in Vantaa.
Local civic activity grants, meanwhile, are meant for supporting activities invigorating the city. For example, neighborhood associations can apply for these grants.
Ensure that the association’s data are up-to-date
Apply for grants in the City of Vantaa's grant system that uses Suomi.fi authentication.
Before the beginning of the application period, make sure that your association’s signers are correctly entered in the Finnish Patent and Registration Office’s Register of Associations. In addition, in order to submit an application, you may need Suomi.fi authorizations if the rules of the association demand that there be more than one signer. We advise you to reserve enough time for the above.

The new application period will not affect the time of payment of the grants
In earlier years, the application was arranged as late as the February of the operating year. We have brought the application period forward so that, in the future, organizations will receive information on their operating grant as early as possible. At the same time, we wanted to standardize the grant-application period with Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county.
The Urban Culture and Wellbeing committee will make the decisions on those who are granted operating grants in early 2025.
Changing the application period will not affect the time of payment of the grants. Even in the future, the grants will only be paid when the potential account of using the previous year’s grant is acceptable.
The grants are awarded to activities consistent with the city’s values
Operating grants are awarded for basic operations compliant with the associations' rules. The operating grant will be awarded once a year and it must be spent during the year it was granted.
Grants are awarded for activities that are compliant with the City of Vantaa's values and that promote realization of the city's strategic objectives and that supplement the city's own service provision.
General grounds for awarding grants as well as grant-type-specific principles and instructions are applied to applying for and awarding of grants.
The change in the operating grants for health and welfare promotion, as well as for local civic activity, will not affect the application periods of other grants awarded by the city.
