The national 2025 joint application for upper secondary education begins on Tuesday February 18, 2025. Welcome to study at Vantaa upper secondary schools and Vantaa Vocational College Varia! Joint application is open until March 18, 2025.

In joint application, between February 18 and March 18, you can apply for  

  • general upper secondary education 
  • vocational basic degrees 
  • vocational education arranged as special support  
  • preparatory training for work and independent life (TELMA education) 
  • adult education colleges’ Opistovuosi oppivelvollisille (“folk high school year for youth of compulsory education age”) 

 

Who can apply in joint application? 

Students who graduate from basic education this spring can apply in joint application. In addition, those who have graduated from basic education but have not yet completed the general upper secondary syllabus, vocational qualification, or university degree.  

 

How to apply? 

You will find more information on joint application and upper secondary education institutions on Vantaa’s online joint application website at: Vantaan yhteishakusivusto, as well as national information at: https://opintopolku.fi. Fill out joint application's application form online at: opintopolku.fi.  

You can choose seven study places and list them in the order of priority. The order is important because your study place will be the educational institution highest on your list for which your points suffice.

Compulsory education continues in upper secondary education 

According to law, compulsory education ends when a young person reaches the age of 18 or when they have finished upper secondary education degree. Young people ending basic education are obliged to apply for upper secondary education. As a general rule, upper secondary education will remain free of charge in the future.
