Wellbeing counseling for families

Wellbeing counseling for families is a free health-enhancing physical activity service in everyday life for families in Vantaa.

Introduction

The service will be end by the end of 2026. Registration for long-term counseling is open until September 30, and single-session appointments are available until the end of the year. Lifestyle service will continue to be available through well-being mentoring for adults in Vantaa.

ofessional will support and motivate you in issues related to wellbeing and help find the kinds of physical activity that suit you best. You will receive easy-to-understand tips for physical activity and wellbeing.

Wellbeing counseling for families is free of charge and promotes wellbeing and activity in everyday life for Vantaa families.

Prerequisites

You can use the service if:
1. There is at least one child aged 1-6 in your family. There can be more than one child in the family.
2. You feel that your family gets too little exercise or is not physically active enough.
3. You wish to change your family's habits and have both the motivation and energy to do so.

There are two types of service available for families. The primary languages of the service are Finnish and English.

Family-specific wellbeing counseling

A professional will agree on meeting times and places together with you.

The service is available from a one‑time appointment to a longer 4–6‑month period of well‑being guidance. The meetings will include discussions and exercising together in accordance with your wishes. The entire family can participate in the counseling. If they so wish, the parents can get Inbody and/ or Firstbeat Life measurements taken free of charge (value €50-200).

Referral to wellbeing counseling for families

Families can be referred to wellbeing counseling for families through the counseling bureau, early childhood education or independent enrollment. A counseling bureau or early childhood education professional can direct the family to enroll in wellbeing counseling online.

If your family is in need of support for healthy and active lifestyle changes, you can contact the family wellbeing counselors or mention this to a counseling bureau or early childhood education professional.

You can ask the wellbeing counselors for more information about the service by phone or email.

Process description

The service is available in all of Vantaa's major regions. The meetings are carried out at open early childhood education premises and in the local area of the family's place of residence. The service is available on weekdays at 8:00-17:00.

The wellbeing counselor will contact the customers referred to the service by phone within a week of enrollment. The counseling will begin within one month of enrollment.

Costs

Wellbeing counseling for families is free of charge for families.
