Veterinary clinic
Basic care for small animals is provided by the veterinary clinic of the City of Vantaa. The services are intended for the pets of Vantaa residents only.
Compulsory education
Children living permanently in Finland are required to attend school. Compulsory education begins at the beginning of the school year in the year in which the child turns seven. Compulsory education will end when a young person has their 18th birthday, or when they have completed an upper secondary
Animal welfare
If you suspect that an animal is being treated in violation of the Animal Welfare Act, please contact the animal welfare authorities, which include the city's veterinarians and health inspectors and the police.
General upper secondary education in Vantaa
In Vantaa, general upper secondary education is provided in six Finnish-speaking general upper secondary day schools, one Swedish-speaking general upper secondary school, Vantaa general upper secondary school for adults and the Sotunki general upper secondary school's adult studies (remote studies).
Studying in a distance general upper secondary school
Instead of a whole degree, studying remotely also allows for completing individual courses or subject units, improving one's grades and supplementing a previous matriculation examination with new subjects.
Student body
During their general upper secondary school studies, students can participate in and influence the school's and also the City of Vantaa's operations by becoming active in their school's student board, for example.
Learning support and special-needs education in general upper secondary education
All general upper secondary schools in Vantaa offer plenty of learning support, including, among others, remedial instruction. All general upper secondary schools also have special needs teachers who carry out, for example, reading screeners, counsel about study skills, and give special-needs
Basic education for grades 1-6
In grades 1 through 6, pupils have their own class teacher who teaches them most of the subjects.
Basic education for grades 7-9
In grades 7 through 9, pupils study common and optional subjects in line with the national distribution of lesson hours.
