After school activities are intended for first and second graders and older students who study in a small group or special class with a special education teacher.

After school activities are intended for first and second graders and older students who study in a small group or special class with a special education teacher.

Applications for the activities take place in April. Applications are made for one school year at a time. After school activities are organized by private companies, different societies and the church, at the school or in nearby premises. The City of Vantaa coordinates the activities.

There are a total of 54 after school activity units in Vantaa with around 2600 children attending them.

Morning, after school, and holiday activities for children with disabilities

For children who have a decision to arrange education based on a disability, illness or functional limitation, morning and afternoon activities are arranged at the child`s school in their own group.

A child participating in morning and afternoon activities for disabled children and holiday care must have a service decision from Wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava (Vantaan ja Keravan hyvinvointialue). Applications for the activities are made from the Wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava`s disability services, further information: Vammaisneuvonta | Vantaan ja Keravan hyvinvointialue.

Operating hours

After school activities will be arranged during the school year. The activities will not be provided during holiday seasons or on exceptional school days or on Saturdays.

After school activities operate daily from 12:00–16:00 or 12:00 to 17:00. The family shall choose in the service agreement the desired operating hours for the entire school year.

The organizers of the after school activities are entitled to have two staff training days per school year, on which day the operating unit is closed. The guardians will be informed of the staff training day at least two weeks in advance.

Apply for after school activities via online Wilma service

Application period for the school year 2026–2027 is March 26 - April 30, 2026. A place will be granted to 1st and 2nd graders and older students who study in a small group or special class with a special education teacher, who apply during the application period and who are without a guardian at home after school.
You can also apply for after school activities throughout the year, but in this case, we cannot guarantee that all applicants receive a place in after school activities.

After school activities’ customer fees and payment relief

After school activities are subject to a charge. The guardians are charged a fixed monthly fee.

A daily snack is included in the customer fee. Everyone is also insured in case of an accident.

Cancelling a place in after school activities

The place in the after school activities can be terminated following the notice period.

The organizer of the after school activities and the guardian will make a service agreement before the child starts the activities.

Child information form instructions

This only applies to the after school activity units at Hämeenkylän koulu, Kaivokselan koulu and Kuusikon koulu, where the City of Vantaa acts as the organizer.

The guardian will be sent a link to the electronic Child information form after the child has received a place in after school activities at Hämeenkylän koulu, Kaivokselan koulu or Kuusikon koulu. The guardian will fill in the form before the activity starts.
