Introduction
French, Spanish, Swedish and German are offered as electives starting from grade 4. Swedish instruction begins in grade 6 as a compulsory course. Our selection of students for the school is based upon oral and/or written assessment in English. Our school accepts predominantly children living in Vantaa. Parental and professional support contributes to meeting our school mission.
Our school premises is located in Kartanonkoski. The building also includes a daycare center and a public library.

Schools arrange subject to a charge before- and after-school activities for 1st-2nd grade students, as well as for students who need special support.
Assessment is a whole that consists of more than giving grades and reports. Providing constructive and guiding feedback helps pupils understand about their own learning and identify their strengths.
Disabled and special needs students will receive the interpretive and assistance services they need for their schooling free of charge.
In grades 1 through 6, pupils have their own class teacher who teaches them most of the subjects.
In grades 7 through 9, pupils study common and optional subjects in line with the national distribution of lesson hours.
Students can complete their basic education entirely in English.
The nine-year Finnish comprehensive school provides general basic education. All children at the age of seven living in Finland must go to school or otherwise complete the comprehensive school curriculum.
Club activities are arranged for school students in Vantaa in connection to their school days.
In the future, young people ending basic education are obliged to apply for upper secondary education in the joint application.
In Vantaa, the support that a pupil requires is primarily organised by different flexible means in their local school.
Either religion or ethics are taught in basic education. A student can also receive teaching in their own religion in primary and lower secondary schools in Vantaa.
The purpose of school meals is to provide the students with nutritious and tasty food that meets the nutrition recommendations. A school meal is served every day, and it is free of charge.
School transportation is primarily arranged by public modes of transport, in which case the student receives a free-of-charge schoolchild's travel card. In exceptional cases, however, taxi transportation can be arranged.
The aim of the Schools on the Move programme is to promote a culture of physical activity in basic education and support the expertise and well-being of school personnel.
Teaching of Finnish as a second language (S2) is available to students who do not have native-level Finnish language skills.
Vantaa provides teaching of a student's own native tongue, home language and maintained language for two hours per week.
Urhea activities in Vantaa lower secondary schools and Sotunki Upper Secondary School support the coordination of schooling and athletics of children and young people that take part in goal-oriented athletic operations.
Working life-oriented basic education familiarises students with working life already during their basic education. The studies of working-life oriented basic education alternate on-the-job training periods at workplaces with teaching at school.

- The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens automatically with a motion sensor.
In the facility
- The customer service point has 2 floors.
- For moving around, there is a lift, which can hold a wheelchair; the door opens automatically. The floor numbers in the lift cannot be felt with fingers. (The minimum dimensions for an accessible lift are width 1.1 m and depth 1.4 m.)
- The indoor walkways have 1 step.
- The doors in the facility stand out clearly.
- The facility has an accessible toilet on the same floor as the entrance.
