Vantaa Culture Kids introduces children to art early on
From next year, children born in Vantaa will be introduced to the secrets of art and culture during their early childhood by Vantaa's arts and culture professionals, known as “sponsors”.
Every Vantaa child born in 2023 and after will be invited to become a culture kid of Vantaa. Vantaa Culture Kids will receive two free cultural visits every year until they start school.
They can attend performances, concerts, and workshops together with their parents, grandparents, or other close relatives. Events will take place at cultural venues and museums all over Vantaa. Activities will be designed to suit the age and developmental level of the child.
The programme will include events in plain language and in several languages, or even completely nonverbal presentations. Thus, language will not be a barrier to participation. It is hoped that all Vantaa residents, regardless of their native tongue, will get involved in the Vantaa Culture Kids programme.
You can’t go wrong with a cultural visit
At Vantaa Culture Kids events, you don't have to worry about your child's behaviour or crying. The children should be allowed to be themselves and there should be no unnecessary shushing. There are rules, of course, but the instructions will be clearly given, and everything will be done on the conditions of the children.
Baby care has been carefully considered to make it as easy as possible for everyone to participate. In Vantaa, culture belongs to everyone, and you can't go wrong with a cultural visit!
New events, new inclusive cooperation
Vantaa Culture Kids will bring new events and new forms of cooperation to the city. It is hoped that the programme will remain a permanent feature. The activities will be developed in a long-term partnership with Vantaa's cultural operators, organisations, and families with children.
The Vantaa Culture Kids programme will start at the beginning of 2023. Invitations will be distributed at maternity and child health clinics from January onwards. Events for children born in 2023 will take place from April to December. Enrolment will begin in January–February.
