Bulletin 10.1.2022: Those infected at educational institution (COVID-19)
When an infected person has stayed at the school when infectious, the exposed will no longer be placed in quarantine.
- If a student has been exposed to COVID-19 infection (at home, at school, or anyplace else), they can attend school as usual and will not be placed in quarantine.
- Schools/educational institutions are asked to inform people who may have been exposed to COVID-19 according to the instructions below.
Information
First find out whether the infected person was at the school during the period of infectiousness. In the present situation of the epidemic, a positive home-test result justifies informing those potentially exposed to COVID-19.
The period of infectiousness refers to the time when a person potentially infected with COVID-19 can transmit the disease. Only contacts during the period of infectiousness can lead to exposure to COVID-19 disease.
- The period of infectiousness begins 48 hours before the first symptoms arise, or, in case of those without symptoms, 48 hours before a positive COVID-19 sample was taken. Thus, even the clock time matters. The period of infectiousness ends when ten (10) days have passed since the beginning of the symptoms.
- Even mild COVID-19 symptoms are included. Potential symptoms of coronavirus disease consist of headache, smell or taste disorders, sniffles, nasal congestion, cough, shortness of breath, weakness, tiredness, sore throat, hoarse throat, fever, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
If an infected person has been at the school during the period of infectiousness, the people that were in the same class or group as the infected person during the period of infectiousness must be informed about potential exposure to COVID-19 infection.
If you have been exposed to Covid-19 infection
- You can continue attending the school by following up-to-date recommendations.
- If several new infections are verified in your teaching group, you are recommended to avoid social contacts outside the school for a week, to the extent possible. You can continue to attend the school also in this case.
